NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has released a detailed image of Uranus, the seventh planet in the solar system. The image shows the glowing rings around the ice planet and its 27 moons. In this new image from the $10 billion telescope, 11 of the planet's 13 rings can be seen. These blisters are so shiny that they look like bright circles. The James Webb Space Telescope has also imaged the planet's milky dust rings, discovered by Voyager 2 during a close flyby in 1986. The rings around Uro are thinner, narrower and darker than the rings around other planets. The telescope also imaged 27 known moons of Uranus. Most of these moons are too small to be seen clearly in the image, while 6 bright moons were identified in just 12 minutes of exposure. The infrared camera used for the image (which reflects light with higher frequencies than visible light in the electromagnetic spectrum) also clearly captured distant galaxies in the new image.
